While working at ThinkShout, I had the opportunity to help strengthen the digital presence of the World Resources Institute (WRI). WRI is a global research organization dedicated to turning big ideas into action on critical issues like climate, energy, food, and cities. Supporting a mission this broad and vital required a website that could evolve and grow alongside it.

As part of a dedicated development team, I contributed to a series of key enhancements and improvements that made WRI.org more flexible, user-friendly, and impactful.

What We Built

Digital Ecosystem Mapping
WRI’s work spans multiple focus areas, regional offices, and audiences. I helped map and clarify this complex digital ecosystem to ensure content could flow logically and be easily found by different stakeholders — whether they’re policymakers, researchers, or the general public.

Migration Strategy
To future-proof WRI’s digital platform, we developed a careful migration plan that ensured legacy content was preserved and transitioned smoothly into a more modern, maintainable structure.

Sitewide Filter
One of the major improvements was implementing a robust sitewide filter. I helped develop this feature to allow visitors to find the resources they need quickly — across reports, projects, blogs, and data tools — while keeping the user experience intuitive and fast.

Accessibility Optimization
I worked on optimizing the site for accessibility, auditing and refining features to make sure the platform is usable by all audiences and compliant with modern accessibility standards.

Custom Drupal Development
I contributed to ongoing custom Drupal development, tailoring the CMS to WRI’s unique content needs — from flexible content types to integrations that support their global reach.

Design System Development
To keep everything consistent and scalable, our team created a shared design system. I helped implement reusable components and patterns, giving WRI’s team a clear visual language to apply across pages and future features.

Ongoing Support & Feature Planning
As the site evolved, I provided continuous development support and collaborated with stakeholders to plan and roll out new features that keep the site aligned with WRI’s growing needs.

The Outcome

Today, WRI.org is a dynamic platform that supports WRI’s mission to turn ideas into action. It’s easier for visitors to navigate, more flexible for editors to manage, and ready to grow with the organization’s global impact.
